I have a beautiful light brown coat covered in bright white spots, which are most visible in summer. I’m gentle, graceful, and always alert. My big ears move constantly to catch every sound around me. I love living in open woodlands and grassy areas where I can roam freely and munch on my favorite plants.
Did you know?
- My antlers (if I’m a male!) grow new every year and are shaped like broad, flat paddles.
- My white spots are most visible in summer and fade in winter as I grow up.
- I can sprint quickly and leap high when I sense danger.
- I use soft grunts and snorts to communicate with other members of my herd.
- I flick my tail like a signal flag to warn my herd if I spot a predator.
- I can swim across rivers and streams if I need to.
Habitat & food
Habitat
I live in open forests, grasslands, and woodland edges across much of Europe and parts of western Asia. I enjoy areas with shade to rest and open spaces to graze peacefully.
Visitor guidelines
Please watch me calmly from a safe distance. Loud noises or sudden movements can make me nervous. I know I look cute, but please don’t try to feed me — my tummy is very sensitive. Just enjoy watching me and my herd peacefully grazing!
