Asiatic Black Bear
Ursus thibetanus
I am a medium sized bear known for my black fur and the distinctive white or cream crescent shaped marking on my chest. I am an excellent climber and spend a lot of time in trees searching for food resting and escaping danger. I am usually active during the evening and night and I mostly live alone.

Habitat & food
Habitat
I live in forests and mountainous regions across parts of Asia including the Himalayan region China India Pakistan and several other Asian countries. I prefer areas with thick vegetation trees and plenty of natural food and shelter.
Visitor guidelines
Please stay behind the safety barriers and do not lean over or touch the fence. Do not make loud noises or try to attract my attention by throwing food or objects. Bears are very strong animals and should always be observed from a safe distance. Keep children close and follow zoo staff instructions so everyone can watch me safely and respectfully.
